Abstract

A new species of Monvillea (Cactaceae, Cactoideae) is described for the North border of Argentina, at the Humid East Chaco. It is highly possible this species exist also in Paraguay. A key to differentiate the Argentinean species is provided. It is added a detailed note about the validity of the genus Monvillea
