Abstract

The systematics of Amomyrtus, an endemic genus of southwestern temperate South America, is reviewed. In molecular phylogenetic studies the genus is supported as monophyletic, with its closest relatives being other American genera such as Legrandia and Pimenta. A lectotype for Myrcia lechleriana Miquel is chosen
