Abstract

Piper miquelianum C. DC. (Piperaceae, sect. Ottonia) is recorded for the first time for the flora of Argentina (Misiones). The species is described and its geographical distribution and field photographs are provided. Three names of P. miquelianum are synonymized for the first time (Ottonia martiana var. latifolia, Ottonia cordulatifolia y Piper ovatum var. hirtellum). In addition, a lectotype is here designated for Piper ovatum var. hirtellum
