Ecología y estrategia de una población de Belostoma Oxyurum (Dufour) (Hemiptera, Belostomatidae)
Resumen
This paper constitutes the first intent to elucídate annual cycle events in a B. oxyurum field population, as well as its adults density changes through the year in Los Talas Pond (Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina).
The main events recorded were: maturity, oviposition, incubation, hatching, nymphal instars and adult stage, giving the extensión of each along the year as they can be watched on the natural environment
Density was estimated every month by usine the triple capture method (Bailey, 1951) and a marginal section of the pond was cnosen to carry out this purpose. The marking technique selected consisted on a synthetical paint applied extemally on the prono t um.
Furthermore, some considerations are given on the causes that determine the permanence and dominance ot B. oxyurum comparing them with the ones that condition the discontinuous occurrence of other congeneric and sympatric species.
The interpretation of the obtainedTesults, speáatty those referred to the extensión of the different annual cycle instars and stages, as well as the almost unabiiity to fly observed in this population place it as a strategíst of great aptitude for biological competition, in its condition of a permanent limnotope inhabitant.
