Abstract

This article explores the effects on colonial (philosophical) historiography produced by the reflections of Bolívar Echeverría. His reading of the long seventeenth century, the problematization of conceptual tools to read that past are useful to undo certain myths of the analysis of the colonial era and American history. To understand the specificity of Echeverría's contribution we will contrast his methods and concepts with the critical discourse of coloniality of Anibal Quijano.
