“I am not happy”: origin, uses and social agency of Chaptalia nutans (Asteraceae), according to the guarani people of Misiones province, Argentina

Abstract

A guarani narrative on the origin of Chaptalia nutans(Asteraceae) is showed here. This narrative explains the medicinal and magic uses of this plant as antidepressant and its guarani name: “I don’t happy”. I suggest that the name, the uses, and the myth about the origin of this plant, has been inspired on the autonomous movements of the peduncles.
