The presence of Ceiba lupuna (Malvaceae) is reported for the first time in Bolivian territory, in the Amazon region of the Pando department. This record increases the number of species of the genus Ceiba known in the country to 9 taxons and contributes to the knowledge of Amazonian flora. Identification was based on morphological and photographic observations of reproductively mature individuals. The differences between C. lupuna and C. camba, a morphologically similar species that is possibly confused with it in the region, are discussed.
