El modelo de planificación urbana democrática de Otto Neurath

Este artículo examina las ideas de Otto Neurath sobre la democratización de la planificación urbana, desarrolladas a través de su intervención en procesos de planificación en Viena (Austria) a principios de la década de 1920 y en Bilston (Reino Unido) a mediados de la década de 1940. Se pretende mostrar que Neurath defiende un modelo humanista, pluralista, democrático y antitecnocrático de planificación urbana, en el que la educación y el libre acceso al conocimiento desempeñan un rol destacado. Para esto, se adopta la metodología de la reconstrucción histórico-sistemática que, al tiempo que posibilita comprender el modelo neurathiano en el contexto histórico e intelectual en el que se desarrolla, permite también entenderlo como un aporte relevante para la reflexión y la discusión sobre la planificación urbana en el contexto contemporáneo.
