Authorial photography and residential rationalism in A Coruña: an approach to the built space from situated practice

This article analyses the relationship between authorial photography and rationalist architecture in A Coruña (Galicia, Spain) from situated artistic research. Based on eight cases, photography is configured as a device for the production of visual knowledge that articulates readings of the built environment. The study shifts the focus towards ordinary residential buildings
of A Coruña’s rationalism, highlighting their role in the aesthetic qualification of the urban fabric. Visual operations (fragmentary framing, variation in viewpoint and low-angle shots) reorganise the perception of the architectural fact, intensify its formal dimension and update its condition of monumentality in contemporary urban experience.
