PROCEDURE AND CONSIDERATIONS FOR PUBLISHING CONTRIBUTIONS IN RGD
In regards of fulfilling the requirements pushed forward by the indexation set that endorses the Revista Geográfica Digital publications, it turns out to be necessary to standardize text formats and content scope.
RDG only publishes original manuscripts, having either of the following formats:
1. Scientific and technological articles
Original writings based on scientific research work or technological foundation, theoretical conceptualizations, and how it is pass on to the problems investigated or objects of study.
2. Analytical and critical reflection articles
Original writings containing unique thoughts on a specific subject: presenting findings and analysis derived from research on a theoretical or practical topic, based on original sources.
3. Review articles
Original studies conducted to provide an overview of the state of a specific topic regarding the geographic space, evolution and progress over time, demonstrating the author(s) knowledge and domain about the subject through a correct discussion of the quoted authors research, together with their own. This article is characterized by including an ADEQUATE AND SUFFICIENT review of bibliographic references.
4. Academic papers
Academic papers on a specific, significant, or currently relevant topic will be considered by the editorial committee without requiring an external peer review process.
Therefore, the procedure for publishing manuscripts will be regulated according to the following steps:
- The manuscripts will be received through the Geográfica Digital website, after registration: https://revistas.unne.edu.ar/index.php/geo/index If there is any doubt or inconvenience for registration, please contact us at: revista.geografica.digital@gmail.com
- The Editorial Board will receive original contributions and, firstly, it will analyse formal aspects regarding content adaptation, article extension, typography, body, line spacing, etc.
- The Editorial Board will consider content coherence, structure and clarity of presentation and might accept, reject or suggest changes to the article summited to consideration prior to the appointment of external reviewers. In the event that modifications or adjustments are suggested, and if agreed upon with the author(s), the author(s) must make the necessary amendments and resubmit the article to the Editorial Committee for reconsideration.
- Once accepted, submissions will be sent to two highly qualified reviewers from the Review Committee of the publication. These assessments will be conducted by blind peers (meaning both, authors and reviewers, are unknown to each other).
- Once the evaluations have been received, the Editorial Committee will inform the author(s) of the results by means of a unanimous decision, with the appropriate reservations.
- Once the article has been accepted, the date of publication will be at the discretion of the editorial directors, based on the order of reception and the relevance of the topic in the general context of each issue's publication. In all cases, the Editorial Board will inform the author about the issue in which their contribution will appear.
- Submissions must be original and once sent, authors agree not to submit them to any other journal.
- The manuscript may contain a minimum of self-citation (30%) as to avoid so-called self-plagiarism on key paragraphs, such as: results and conclusions. Authors are responsible for the content of their own contributions.
- Authors are responsible for the content of their own contributions. The origin or source of figures, charts, graphics, etc., must be in the manuscript and be specified in accordance to APA Standards. Please check the section on copyright (https://normas-apa.org/citas/derechos-de-autor-de-imagenes-figuras-y-tablas/#google_vignette) to ensure that citations and references are correct.
- The manuscript must be written in some of the following languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese or French.
- Authors must send only one article to the current call.
- Authors must not have published any article in the immediately preceding issue.
- Once a favourable decision for publication has been received, if the author does not respond promptly, the publisher reserves the right to consider the manuscript rejected.

- THE ABSTRACT must not be numbered.
- Image quality: the minimum quality of images to be included in the manuscript is 300 dpi, and they may be in TIFF or JPEG format.
- To find more information about format detail and exemplification, you can download the guide file (manuscritoejemplo.docx) and make the appropriate modifications.
PRIMARY DATA APPOINTMENT MANAGEMENT
Articles accepted for publication in Revista Geográfica Digital must ensure the preservation and availability of the data used, in accordance with Law No. 26.899 on Digital Repositories. So as to meet this requirement, the data generated must be uploaded to a research data repository prior to publication.
The ‘Bibliographic References’ section of the article must include the complete citation of the deposited data. When citing the primary data set, the corresponding authorship is acknowledged, while its location, validation and reuse are identified, which promotes the transparency of scientific research and facilitates the metrics and impact of the data.
Each data set and subset must be cited independently with its own DOI or similar identifier. If it is not possible or feasible for the data to be made openly available (due to confidentiality or sensitivity, for example), it must be shared through a controlled-access repository.
AUTHORSHIP DECLARATION
Articles submitted to Revista Geográfica Digital from multiple authors having different participation roles or that may have required the participation of other collaborators must be included in the Letter of Commitment, a declaration of authorship roles and participation using the taxonomy of academic collaboration networks (CRediT).
CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) is a high level taxonomy, it consists of 14 defined roles that describe the normal functions performed by those who contribute in the production of scientific articles. The roles describe each specific contribution of each author to the final result (for instance, formal analysis, conceptualization, writing, review and editing, etc.), which can be looked up in the following link: https://hdlab.space/taxonomia.
In the event of not having collaboration roles since all authors participated equally in the production and writing, the following may be stated in the Letter of Commitment: ‘Author 1 and Author No.’ contributed jointly in the writing of this article.
PRE-PRINT POLICIES
REVISTA GEOGRÁFICA DIGITAL (RDG) accepts manuscripts that have been published in preprint servers.
RDG only accepts preprints that have not undergone formal peer review. Clearly, RDG DOES NOT ACCEPT preprints when these are press articles, i.e., that have already undergone peer review by another scientific journal and have already been accepted for publication in that journal.
RDG suggests inexperienced authors to publish their manuscripts as preprints on SCIELO Preprints before sending them to RDG for formal review. Publishing on SCIELO Preprints ensures a minimum of quality in the manuscript since it may receive comments from researchers of the field that may revise the manuscript as to improve it.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
When summiting a paper, author(s) are responsible for acknowledging and disclosing any financial or other conflicts that could influence their work.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
It is mandatory to acknowledge in the manuscript any financial support or any personal or economic relationship related to the reported research, clearly indicating its origin (funding institution, project code, etc.).
