Abstract

The concept of human nature in the works of Lope de Vega, Calderón de la Barca and Tirso de Molina is analyzed in light of the precepts of the humanist Pedro de Mexía. These authors of the Golden Age reconcile classical tradition with medieval precepts, echoed in Pedro de Mexía's work Silva de varia lección. The study of the concept of human nature in the three golden retrieves the symbolic value of being in a time of profound changes of which Spanish literature is aware and establishes a relevant socio-cultural relationship for the analysis of Hispanic philology.
