Abstract

This article comparatively analyzes The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri and ¡Que viva la música! by Andrés Caicedo. Its purpose is to examine the resignification of descent through the categories of journey, body, and guide. To this end, the study adopts a qualitative approach grounded in comparative literature. The process begins with the selection of textual fragments related to the analytical categories and relevant to each work. The results show that, in both narratives, the journey emerges as a response to an existential crisis that triggers a rite of passage; the body appears as a symbolic space of tension, penance, and resistance; and the guide is configured as a mediator of meaning, embodied in Dante through Virgil and in Caicedo through music and urban excess. From this perspective, the study concludes that ¡Que viva la música! reinterprets the legacy of descent by detaching it from faith and concentrating the process on aesthetics, pleasure, and subjectivity.
