It is proposed to investigate the ideas built and put into circulation around urban informality, based on the analysis of the media discursiveness exercised from the production of news from different media. For this, the study of a paradigmatic case in the San Miguel de Tucumán agglomerate is carried out, with the aim of uncovering what underlies such discourses around urban informality and advancing in the identification of interests, methods and strategies with that each analyzed medium operates. The process of construction of alterity of that other who inhabits the popular neighborhood shows phenomena of exclusion, invisibility, as well as the promotion of leading role of the popular sectors, according to the typology of the media, favoring or counteracting the conditions of inequality.

CUADERNO URBANO sustains its commitment to the Open Access policies for scientific information, on account of the fact that both scientific publications and public funded research must circulate freely on the Internet and without restrictions.
CUADERNO URBANO ratifies the Open Access model in which the contents of scientific publications are available in full text free of charge on the Internet, without temporary embargoes, and whose editorial production costs are not transferred to the authors. This policy proposes breaking down the economic barriers that generate inequities both in access to information and in the publication of research results.
