BIM Modeling Experimental Workshops for Architecture Students

Abstract

The incorporation of BIM Methodology into architectural production defines a new paradigm in the
teaching of architecture. The internal research project entitled "BIM MODELING MANUAL FOR
SEISMIC CONSTRUCTION SYSTEMS IN THE PROVINCE OF SAN JUAN," developed by the
Technological Area team of the IRPHa, dependent on the FAUD-UNSJ, aimed to conduct a cycle of
Experimental BIM Modeling Workshops with architecture students, in order to put it into use. In this
way, they modeled an architectural project under BIM Methodology, parameterizing its information
according to certain criteria and organizational strategies, based on the region's construction
systems. At the end of the BIM modeling workshops, the results obtained, particularly in the quantity
surveying stage, were compared with those produced traditionally in the Pro.G.E.O. subject
(Production, Management, and Execution of Works).
