Abstract

The new genus Tropidococcus Krapov. (Malvaceae) from Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) isdescribed and illustrated. It belongs to the Sphaeralcea alliance of the tribe Malveae and ischaracterized by the unnusual number of chromosomes, 2n=24, by the pollen with two seriesof six apertures to each side of the equator, and by the keeled mericarps
