Abstract

This article focuses on the Qom community of Colonia Aborigen Chaco, Argentina. Specifically, it aims to present certain reflections on the value of the Qom language as an emblem of identity for this indigenous group. In this regard, we consider. How does the Qom language operate in Colonia Aborigen Chaco? What relationship does the language have with Qom identity? In an attempt to address these inquiries, adopting the theoretical framework of anthropological linguistics, the notion of identity will be explored, considering that this community is deeply marked by historical processes of violence and repression.

Profesora y Licenciada en Letras por la Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL). Actualmente, realiza el doctorado en lingüística en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), es becaria de doctorado UBACYT y forma parte del proyecto “I+D Lenguas indígenas del Gran Chaco y zonas adyacentes. Fenómenos gramaticales y prácticas comunicativas en contextos plurilingües”, dirigido por la Dra. María Cristina Messineo.
