Abstract

Sally Rooney’s narrative, framed within the Irish PostCeltic Tiger period, is representative of a recent generation of writers whose novels are characterized by experimentation with form and content to give voice to the new identity that has been forged within recessionary Ireland. us, the aims of this article are, firstly, to introduce a new writer within the global literary field; secondly, to map the trajectory of her combative discourse in the reinvention of the romantic novel in her countries of translation; and finally, to point out her stance on the issues she exposes around corporeality, which is one of the backbones of her novels.
