The ovary is a dynamic structure that changes seasonally throughout the reproductive cycle of females. Follicular development occurs in two stages: previtellogenesis and vitellogenesis, where significant changes occur on oocytes and follicular epithelium structure. The knowledge of these events is essential to interpret the reproductive characteristics of a species. Based on specimens belonging to a Herpetological Collection, in this work, the ovarian and follicular morphology of juvenile and adult females of Amerotyphlops brongersmianus (Scolecophidia: Typhlopidae), a semifossorial species inhabiting in northeastern of Argentina, was described. Ovaries of the juvenile females presented germinal beds with oogonia and oocytes in follicles in early stages of previtellogenesis. Adult females showed ovaries with follicles in different stages of previtellogenesis and vitellogenesis, germinal beds and atretic follicles. This work is the first description of the ovarian morphology of A. brongersmianus and reveals a morphological pattern similar to other species of the Order Squamata.
