About the Journal
Focus and scope
Folia Historical del Nordeste has been published regularly since 1974. Its first three issues were edited by the Institute of History of the Faculty of Humanities, of the National University of the Northeast. Starting with the fourth, in 1980, the Geohistorical Research Institute joined the editing work. Its current publication frequency is quarterly (three issues annually) and is electronic. Articles written in Spanish and Portuguese are accepted.
Currently, the journal publishes original research works in social and human sciences, which are based on or consider different regions of the Argentine Republic and its adjacent areas as an empirical reference or for theorizing and knowledge. In this sense, the so-called “transition zones” such as the Gran Chaco, which includes both Argentina and other neighboring countries, are also considered important in terms of their regional importance. The themes it includes are linked to historical, social, material and/or symbolic culture, economic, political and educational aspects; among others specific to the humanistic and social sciences. Research that allows regional comparisons to be established is of special interest. It is expected that the articles constitute a contribution to the different disciplinary fields and encourage debate among specialists in these fields. Such variety and thematic breadth reflects the diversity of topics and work approaches of the Researchers, both from the Institute of Geohistorical Research (IIGHI), and from the Institute of History of the National University of the Northeast (UNNE).
The magazine is aimed, in this way, at a broad sector of the academic field in fields such as History, Geography, Anthropology, Communication, Visual Arts, Sociology and Political Science; although this does not mean that its themes cease to be of interest to a broad enlightened public. This publication (in force and continuous since 1974) constitutes an important repository of regional and national scientific production, in its areas of concern, which not only contributes to the body of knowledge about the region and adjacent areas, but also provides materials for training. disciplinary of future professionals or interested parties from other disciplinary fields who demand knowledge about social aspects of the region. In this way, Folia Historical contributes to creating open access to knowledge produced by the academic community and disseminated with public funds.
