About the Journal

Folia Histórica del Nordeste has been published regularly since 1974. Its first three issues were edited by the Institute of History of the Faculty of Humanities at the Universidad Nacional del Nordeste (UNNE). From the fourth issue onward, in 1980, the Institute of Geohistorical Research (IIGHI-CONICET/UNNE) joined the editorial work and has since been responsible for sustaining the journal as part of its academic and scientific activities.

Folia Histórica del Nordeste is published in both print and electronic formats. The print edition is identified by ISSN 0325-8238, and the electronic edition by E-ISSN 2525-1627.

Currently, Folia Histórica del Nordeste is an electronic scholarly journal with a four-monthly publication frequency, issuing three numbers per year corresponding to the periods January–April, May–August, and September–December. This publication schedule has been in effect since 2016, following the journal’s inclusion in the Núcleo Básico de Revistas Científicas Argentinas.

The journal publishes original research articles in the field of social sciences and humanities, focused on or theoretically grounded in regions of the Argentine Republic and surrounding areas. Special attention is given to so-called “transition zones,” such as the Gran Chaco, which encompasses territories in Argentina and neighboring countries. Topics addressed include historical, social, cultural, economic, political, and educational issues, as well as other areas specific to the social sciences and humanities. Comparative studies of regional scope are particularly encouraged.

Folia Histórica del Nordeste is addressed to a broad academic audience, including researchers, lecturers, and students in disciplines such as History, Geography, Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science, Communication Studies, and Visual Arts, as well as other readers interested in social and humanistic knowledge of the region. The journal represents an important repository of regional and national scholarly production and contributes to ensuring open access to knowledge produced with public funding.
