The use of pesticides can affect the aquatic ecosystem. Through the soil, these pollutants are drained into rivers and lagoons. In Argentina, glyphosate-based agrochemicals such as Roundup are widely used in agricultural activities. Considering this, the objective of this work was to evaluate the genotoxic damage of Roundup Full II® in blood cells of juvenile specimens of Prochilodus lineatus were evaluated. The fish are exposed to concentrations of 0.025 μg/L, 0.05 μg/L and 0.1 μg/L of glyphosate (Roundup Full II) for 7 days. After this period, for the preparation of the smears, blood was extracted from the fish by puncture of the caudal vein. Smear analysis will reveal micronucleus, binucleate cells, lobed nuclei, blebbed nuclei, notched nuclei, nuclear vacuoles, microcytes, buds and cells with nuclear bridge. The statistical analysis showed significant differences between the control and treated groups. In this way, the results suggest the existence of a genetic damage caused by the exposure of the fish to the pesticide.Downloads
