Urban green spaces are essential in city planning because they provide crucial ecosystem services. However, they can also have disservices, such as seasonal allergies, which affect more than 20% of the global population. Aeropalinological studies are important because they allow for the analysis of airborne pollen concentrations, the identification of emission sources, and the development of pollen calendars. Consequently, they supply useful information for both public health and landscape planning. In this study, the relationship between airborne pollen and the taxa present in an urban park—represented by the Sargento Cabral Campus in Corrientes—was analyzed. A total of 347 individuals belonging to 31 families were surveyed, the most notable of which were Fabaceae, Bignoniaceae, and Myrtaceae. There was a predominance of tree species (66%), exotic species (49%), and entomophilous pollination (70%). Notably, only 19% of the taxa were identified as allergenic, including Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Delonix regia, and Ceiba chodatii. A reference palinotheque of non-acetolyzed pollen from 45 species present in the park was constructed. During aerobiological sampling using Tauber gravimetric traps, 24 pollen types were identified. At site T1, Cecropia pachystachya, Urtica-type, and Eupatorium-type were predominant, while Zea mays, Peltophorum dubium, and Schinopsis sp. were more abundant at site T2. Ultimately, there was little correlation between the vegetation surveyed and the airborne pollen captured. Additionally, an increase in pollen concentration was observed during months with higher average temperatures. This study highlights the crucial need to integrate aerobiological and allergenicity criteria into urban forestry planning.
