Analysis of the hygrothermal performance of a dwelling in a context of social vulnerability in Córdoba, Argentina

Abstract

This study analyzes the hygrothermal performance of a dwelling in a socially vulnerable context in the city of Córdoba, Argentina, identifying its comfort conditions and construction deficiencies. The methodology comprised three stages: an architectural and urban survey through direct observation, questionnaires, and photographic records; indoor hygrothermal monitoring using a Data Logger; and thermographic analysis with an Hti-19 camera. Data were processed according to ASHRAE Standard 55 (2023) and visualized using Dview software. The results revealed wide thermal fluctuations, with temperatures ranging from 10.5 °C to 35.7 °C and relative humidity levels reaching 86%, demonstrating the dwelling’s inability to maintain interior comfort. Problems of overheating, nighttime cooling, insufficient ventilation, and thermal bridges associated with condensation and mold growth were identified. It is concluded that the hygrothermal performance is conditioned by the poor quality of the building envelope and the deficient urban context, highlighting the need for low-cost bioclimatic strategies.
