Abstract

In the history of Argentine dramaturgies, Jorge Ricci (Santa Fe, 1946- 2021) stands out as an artist-researcher, producer of knowledge from theatrical praxis, through his essays (especially El teatro salvaje, 1986, expanded in 2011) and implicit / explicit thought in his meta-theater dramatic texts. In Actores de provincia (1991), one of the most relevant theatrical pieces of his production, Ricci displays a set of valuable observations on the philosophy of scenic praxis on the theatrical event, its complex thickness and its primary liminality. He makes it from the annotations or from the speech / dialogue of the characters. This article explores Ricci's modernizing contribution to Argentine and Latin American theatrology based on the analysis of his poetics of “theater within theater” in Actores de provincia.
