Abstract

The appropriations to which the myth of Medea has been subjected could be summarized in the continuity and ruptures of literary genres, as in the case of the book of poems that concerns this work: Medea by Chantal Maillard (2020). The Belgian-born and Spanish nationalized author has constructed this work based on the eponymus tragedy Euripides (431 a.C) and from the film Medea by Lars Von Trier (1988). Just as Maillard has decided, her elderly and returning protagonist tells us her story. She starts from the point where Euripides left off in the sequence of the filicide, in order to continue inquiring about the conflicts that belong to us as human beings, in a particularly acute and disturbing way, with a powerful and poignant voice that expresses the pain as a method of survival.
