Guidelines for authors - summary version
Folia Histórica del Nordeste accepts original and unpublished works that are not simultaneously under review by other scientific publications. Texts must comply with the editorial, ethical, and formal standards established herein and with the international principles of good practice promoted by COPE.
Accepted languages
Spanish and Portuguese.
Originality
Papers must be unpublished and not under review by another journal.
Types of contributions
Guideline length
Articles and dossiers: 6000 to 12000 words.
Notes and documents: 2500 to 3000 words.
Bibliographic reviews: 1000 to 2000 words.
Formal requirements
Word file (.docx)
Abstract (150–200 words) and keywords in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
APA 7th edition standards.
High-resolution images (min. 300 dpi).
Ethics and transparency
The journal adheres to COPE. Originality, correct citation, and declaration of conflicts of interest are required.
ORCID
Mandatory for all authors.

1. Sections and types of contributions
The journal publishes the following sections:
Research articles
Thematic Dossiers
Notes and documents
Bibliographic reviews
2. Length and format
Articles
Recommended length: 15 to 25 pages (6000 to 12000 words), including notes, tables, figures, and references.
Line spacing: 1.5
Font: Times New Roman, size 11
Margins: 2.5 cm
First line indentation: 1.25 cm
Do not use paragraph breaks or special formatting.
Notes and documents
Maximum length: 10 pages (2500 to 3000 words).
In the case of transcriptions of unpublished documents, the selection and transcription criteria must be explained.
Bibliographics reviews
Works published in the last two years.
Maximum length: 3 pages (1000 to 2000 words).
Include an image of the book cover (JPG or TIFF, minimum 200 dpi).
3. Manuscript preparation
The submission must include:
Page 1
First and last name of each author
Institutional affiliation
Email address
ORCID identifier (required)
Page 2
Title of the work
Abstract (150 to 200 words)
Keywords (up to 4)
The title, abstract, and keywords must be submitted in Spanish and English. All translations are the responsibility of the author.
4. Citation and reference guidelines
Citations and bibliographic references must comply with APA guidelines (7th edition) or equivalent systems accepted in the social and historical sciences.
Final references must correspond exclusively to the works cited in the text and be listed alphabetically.
5. Figures, graphs, tables, and images
Maps, graphs, and photographs will be referred to as figures.
Figures and tables must be sent in separate files, numbered consecutively.
Recommended resolution: 300 dpi (minimum 200 dpi).
Accepted formats: JPG or TIFF.
The source must always be indicated and authorization for use must be obtained when the material is not your own or in the public domain.
Tables and graphs with quantitative data must also be attached in editable format, preferably in Excel (.xls/.xlsx).
6. File submission
The submission must include:
Manuscript in Word (.doc/.docx)
PDF file
Series of figures, graphs, tables, and images (if any)
Declaration of originality and absence of conflicts of interest
Transfer of publication rights
ORCID of all authors
7. Originality, exclusivity, and ethics
Works must be unpublished and submitted exclusively to the journal.
Manuscripts containing self-plagiarism, partial duplication of previously published results, or misuse of sources will not be accepted.
Authors agree to:
Guarantee the originality of the work
Declare conflicts of interest and sources of funding
Collaborate with the editorial process and respond to comments from editors and reviewers
8. Peer review
