Abstract

Walter Alexander de Azevedo (1887-1958) was a Brazilian historian of scanty repercussion in the academic milieu of his country. There exists a small amount of information about his life and production. Walter Alexander de Azevedo established intense and fluid relations with researchers from Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay. The aim of this article is to analyze his contribution on the configuration process of the historiographical fields of the Rio de la Plata region, between the decades of 1930 and 1950. I propose to do it based on an analysis of his epistolary contacts with authors such as Emilio Ravignani, Ricardo Levene, Alberto Palomeque, and Juan Pivel Devoto.
