This essay offers a critical approach to Salvador Matheus’s novel Reventar la memoria (2025), interpreting it as an aesthetic resistance praxis against hate speech and the uprooting of contemporary exile. Drawing on a perspective that recovers “mythic consciousness” and “lived experience” as pillars of Latin American sensitivity, the analytical path of the work is examined from its migratory transit from Barquisimeto to the Spanish Costa del Sol, where narrative polyphony and memory fragmentation function as an ethical authority against institutionalized oblivion. Under the theoretical framework of Leonor Arfuch, Carlos Pabón, and the concept of the writing of the self, we explore how the novel–by decentering the official discourse of migration through the bursting of memory and its exiled voices–stands as a linguistic insurgency that dignifies collective memory and the sovereignty of the subaltern subject.
